Tomato genomics

New tools for improvement of yield and quality

Preliminary ProgramThe  workshop Tomato Genomics: new tools to improve yield and quality, mainly sponsored by EU-SOL, the Spanish Ministry of Science and Genoma España, will take place in Toledo (Spain) on October 7th-8th 2009.  It will be held at the end of the EU-SOL annual meeting that will take place between 4th-6th October 2009.

The workshop  is aimed to provide an update on the application of new genomic tools and materials that, by exploring the tomato plant in a genomic scale, lead to the identification of genes controlling important agronomical and fruit quality-associated traits.

Four main sessions are being considered:

  1. Plant development and architecture
  2. Fruit development and quality
  3. Pathogen resistance and innate immunity
  4. Genomic tools: genome sequencing, TILLING and mapping platforms
Abstract submission and registration for the EU-SOL Workshop is now open.

EU-SOL would like to invite submissions for a talk or poster presentation. Submissions from young post-doctoral researchers are particularly encouraged as this will give them the opportunity to discuss their results with a wide range of scientists working in different aspects of tomato biology. Submitted talks will form an important part of the programme, with one to two submitted slots per half day. The posters will we exhibited during the one and a half day duration of the workshop and one session will be dedicated on the first day to viewing them. Abstracts will be published in an abstract book.

Please note the deadline for submitting an abstract is 21st September 2009.
